Recognizing the Signs of Domestic Violence
Share
Understanding the warning signs of domestic violence is the first step in helping yourself or someone else. Some common signs include:
Isolation: The abuser might cut the victim off from friends, family, or any outside relationships, making it difficult to seek help.
Fear of Partner: Victims may seem anxious or fearful of their partner, avoiding topics or situations that could lead to conflict.
Unexplained Injuries: Frequent injuries with questionable explanations, especially if they’re downplayed or hidden.
Sudden Changes in Behavior: This could include withdrawal from activities, a decline in mental health, or hypervigilance around the partner.
Controlling Behavior: The abuser might dictate where the victim goes, what they wear, who they talk to, or even how they spend money.
